Lip-smakelijk

Amsterdam-based designers Praktijk Voor Industrieel Ontwerp designed this delicious-looking chaise inspired by the Panton chair, which turns 50 next year!  Holla birthday!  This one is molded all in one piece just like its dad.  Looks like a tongue.  Awesome.

More pics after the jump.

Straw Chair, Osko+Deichmann, 2009

This kinked update to the classic 1926 Mart Stam cantilevered side chair (or the Breuer B33, depending on who you ask) is pretty boss.  It’s called the Straw Chair and is by German designers Osko+Deichmann.  Originally displayed at a show called Prophets & Penitents:  Confessions of a Chair in Milan last April.

If I owned any CDs this would be hot shit

If I owned any CDs this would be hot shit

You could either buy Naoto Fukasawa’s totally fucking badass CD player for Muji at the MoMA store for $178, or you could go to this mysterious vvork spoof  site Vvank and learn how to build it yourself for basically a dollar.  Too bad we half.com’d all our cd’s a few months ago when the recession hit.  For those of you who haven’t done that yet, just a couple Alanis Morisettes should do the trick – then you can play the rest on this!

Superbia

(jacob-sin)

Holy crap, look at these! It’s a set of Jacobsen chairs designed (remodeled?) after the 7 deadly sins by Thomas von Staffeldt, who also goes by his apparent porn name, “Johnny Slogan.” Pictured above, Pride. The website is in Danish, which is a language I don’t speak, so I did some google translating and found out that the chair for avarice is made out of “plastic and selfishness,” while the chair above is evidently made out of steel, spray paint, and “pushy” (I guess the translation’s not perfect?).

They’re for sale, and it looks like the proceeds will go to about 50 charities. It also allows us to make the joke “Jacob-sin.” Awesome!
