These babies are the Áhöld utensils by Icelandic designer Sóley Þórisdóttir. Their unique shapes come from the existing manufacturing processes of silver workshop Erna (which remain basically unchanged from when the workshop was founded in 1924). Sóley worked with them to create these modern utensils with no new tooling - she fed aluminum into their ornate steel stamps and patterns, all offset-style, which she then annodized and dyed. They are unlike anything my table has seen before. Also, Sóley is a total babe and happens to be my bff and is a huge badass. Her website is here, and you can buy the Áhöld pieces over at Birkiland for $100. Yes!
