RISD Exposé opening
Last Friday was the opening of RISD Exposé, a pop-up store in downtown Providence that is dedicated toward current RISD students slinging their art and design work like there’s no tomorrow. Here are a few standouts from the show.
WHAPOW here is a thing called “Chair + Chair = Bench” by Jiwon Choi, who I guess is this person? Or who maybe doesn’t have a website. Anyway, I guess we’re supposed to go ahead and tip this over sometime when we need a bench, but no one will ever do that because it looks totally boss standing up like this, no?
Asking price: $3000-$5000 (?)
And here is Alicia Lew’s duffel bag/purse thing made out of solid Swarovski crystal. Thank you, Alicia, for putting business cards with your website on them! Makes writing about this a breeze. $980.
This one stole the show – the “Anti-Prism” table by Rosie Li, made of partially-ebonized ash. The precise edges on this were lovely. The form reminds me of those Wendy’s sour cream packets, in a good way. Rosie, if you’re out there, and you have a website, please send it to us! $875.
This one didn’t have a label, but, holy crap.
